What Is ACTiv8

ACTiv8 Youth Theatre is a friendly, inclusive, mixed ability group for young people aged 8 to 18 living in and around Mid Devon. Central to our ethos is our dedication to providing a safe and supportive environment where young people are encouraged to try out new skills under the guidance of experienced teachers.

Our Ethos

We believe ALL young people should have the opportunity to experience, create and perform in high quality drama and musical theatre. We support and promote diversity, inclusion and equality and welcome young people with additional needs. We do not separate the group by age or ability, a conscious decision being made to allow the group to benefit from the personality, skills and experience of all the members coming together as a cohesive group.

Rehearsals

Workshops and rehearsals are held weekly on Sunday afternoons either at Cullompton Community Centre or at Kentisbeare Village Hall. Sessions include team building drama games, improvisation, singing, dancing and acting skills development. We encourage everyone to bring their own ideas to their characters and participate in other areas of the theatre, including managing props, costume design, lighting, sound and production design.

Signing Up and Attending

We do not audition prior to joining ACTiv8. All students are encouraged to learn and participate at whatever level is appropriate to their ability. Acceptance is based on enthusiasm and commitment. We do expect students to attend all rehearsals, be self-disciplined and give their maximum effort at all times.
